In Love

How can someone be alive 6 weeks and 3 days, weigh only a little over 9 lbs with a toothless gummy grin and get an entire family to be totally in love with them? This little girl has something special.

Will and Hayden just adore Lily. Whenever Will holds her she will just look up and smile at him and wave her little arms around and kick. Hayden reports to us every sounds she makes and will giggle hysterically if she happens to bump his face with her tiny hand. Daddy is now guilty of laying her in our bed and snuggling with her too. It's happened twice where it's been all night and I didn't know it till I woke up and found them cuddled up together.

Me...well, let's just say I don't get a lot done during the day as I love to hold her. When I talk to her she gets so excited and gives these adorable little facial expressions.

It doesn't get better than this. We all love you little Lily girl.

Six Weeks Old and Smiling

Lily turned six weeks old yesterday. I can't believe how fast time is flying. We're getting more active everyday and the best thing is that we're starting to smile. That toothless gummy grin just melts my heart.

Change

Big changes are now on the horizon. Now that the opportunity is in front of me, I'm nervous. I think what is making this hard is no matter what path I choose it's going to make someone upset. I'm not one that likes confrontation but I can't live and be happy doing things just to make others happy.

It's time to start a new chapter in my life.

What's shakin' Friday

It's another beautiful spring day today. I just love this time of year. Daily you can see the changes in the trees and the flowers are blooming again. Wonderful!! They're saying late this afternoon we're to get some rain but at the moment it's blue skies and sunny.

We were awaken this morning to the entire house shaking. We had an earthquake. It registered 5.2. Growing up in this area I've felt a few little shakes that lasted only seconds but this lasted about 45 seconds. I was awake when it started as I had just rolled over and was adjusting my covers and pillow. This is something you don't experience very often. It scared me.

The virus that has plagued our household this past week got Will yesterday. The only person who didn't get sick has been Lily. I hope it is gone for good. You sure feel rough for about two days when you get it.

Today my girl is 5 weeks old and getting bigger each day. We went shopping together this week and out to lunch. At Wal-Mart I had several elderly people stop me and ask what aisle did I find her on as they wanted to get one too. She does real well out running around. As long as we're fed and dry, she's a happy girl.

I went on one interview this week and then have two more scheduled for next week. Even if none work out, it boosted my self-esteem knowing that there is life outside my current employer. I'll see what happens. Hopefully not long after I go back I will be submitting my resignation. I'm ready to move on to something else.

I Kiss Be-Be Gurl

Hayden wanted Lily to lay with him in his race car bed. He was so happy that she was laying there and then he told me that he was going to kiss his be-be gurl (baby girl) How sweet!!

Four Weeks Old

Lily turned four weeks old on Friday. I can't believe how fast these weeks have flown by. You are the sweetest baby and we're so glad that you're finally here.

Here's some facts about Lily at the moment:

- She will wake up twice during the night. Usually around 1:30 am and 4:00 am.
- Gets the hic-ups two or three times daily.
- Never cries while getting a bath.
- Doesn't like to be in the car seat unless we're in the van and it's moving.
- Starting to give little half smiles.
- When we talk to her she will stick her arms out straight and her eyes get real big and then she will begin to breathe heavy.
- Sleeps so much better at night cuddled up in mommy's arms or laying in our bed.
- Hayden takes time to pick out her diapers. Sesame Street characters are on the diaper and he must decide which one she's going to wear. He also likes to put the paci in her mouth.
- When Will holds her she seems to always fall asleep.
- Loves to stare at the picture behind the sofa of the red poppy flowers.

My Girl

We went to the pediatrician today and Lily is growing and doing good.

She currently weighs 8 lbs. and is 21 1/4" long. We've got a bad case of baby acne going on but he said it's nothing to worry about and to just wash her face with warm water. I remember both boys getting this too around this age.

Lily started to cry when the doctor went to listen to her heart and Hayden jumped up and held her arm and said "no cry be-be gurl...heart" and then he started to breathe real deep. He was trying to tell her that it was ok. Serious mommy moment there...I got a lump in my throat seeing that. He was so sweet and caring towards her.

She also decided to pee when I went to lay her on the scale. There was a puddle on their floor and in my hand. The nurse and I had the giggles over that one. Hayden just sat back in his chair and said "ewwwww". She will do this often if she gets a chill while naked.

I had a good time out running around with both Lily and Hayden and then we went to get Will at school which is so fun for Hayden. He watches for him and then claps when he sees him. I think all three of them are very fond of each other.

Song

There is a song out at the moment by Kenny Chesney called "Don't Blink". This song can bring me to tears within a few seconds of it starting to play. I immediately think of the kids, especially Lily as she's growing and changing everyday. It's a beautiful song.

Lyrics to Don't Blink

I turned on the evening news
Saw an old man being interviewed
Turnin' 102 today.
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said all I can say is:

Don't blink,
Just like that you're six years old
And you take a nap
And you wake up and you're 25
Then your high school sweetheart becomes your wife.

Don't blink,
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turnin' into moms and dads
Next thing you know your better half of 50 years
Is there in bed and you're prayin' God takes you instead
Trust me friend, 100 years goes faster than you think
So don't blink.

Well, I was glued to my T.V.
When it looked like he looked at me
And said, "You best start puttin' first things first."
'Cause when your hour glass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breath God gives you for what it's worth.

Don't blink,
Just like that you're six years old
And you take a nap
And you wake up and you're 25
Then your high school sweetheart becomes your wife.

Don't blink,
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turnin' into moms and dads
Next thing you know your better half of 50 years
Is there in bed and you're prayin' God takes you instead
Trust me friend, 100 years goes faster than you think
So don't blink.

So, I've been trying to slow it down.
I've been tryin' to take it in.
In this here today gone tomorrow world we're living in
So don't blink.
